Blossom Valley Parson Russell Terriers is located east of Temecula in the mountains of Riverside county, California. Our first litter of Jack Russell Terriers was born in July 2000. The AKC changed the name of the Jack Russell Terrier to Parson Russell Terrier in 2004. I only breed AKC registerable PRTs.
I try to minimize genetic health defects in my puppies by doing as much genetic/health testing that is financially possible. Breeders who tell you that they have no genetic/health defects in their lines are either lying or ignorant. Ask them what tests they have done and if they submit the results to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (offa.org). If they do no testing or tell you that they do not need to do any testing because they have no problems, run from them. Every breeder has had one problem or another over the years. The following list shows some of the more prevalent diseases in our breed:
Cerebellar Ataxia (early onset)
Primary Lens Luxation
Spinocerebellar Ataxia (late onset)
Von Willebrands Disease.
I have done many of these tests on my dogs. I test the hearing of ALL puppies I breed, so my stats are one-fourth of the general pupulation. Dr. Strain reported that 16% of these dogs are deaf in one or both ears. My percentage is less than 4%. The results are listed on my website.

Pratsals Parsons is working hard to produce good smooths with intelligence and good temperament. Our dogs speak English and Spanish. Also there is a working cat at Pratsals that teaches all pups to respect the family cat (sometimes). We are back and forth between the USA and Ecuador where we serve as missionaries. We are registered AKC, UKC, Aercan, FCI Puppies for pet and Show.

We are in the Hayward Hills on about 2 acres, where the dogs live with us in our home , not in a kennel and all have a great time. They are great with kids, dogs, goats, chickens and horses. We compete successfully in Lure Coursing, Flyball, Agility, Frisbee and the traditional Conformation, Obedience, Racing and Go-to-Ground at Jack Russell Shows, we recommend any one with a Jack try it--they can have a great time. Our dogs are great family pets. Most of our puppies have been placed with families and we love adding new people to our Jack Russell family. Jack Russells are great dogs, but don't forget to check the JRTCA site (www.terrier.com) & take the Profiler test before considering a Jack Russell as a pet. It is important to remember they are hunting dogs. We have litters of Jack Russells infrequently, but always feel to contact as if we don't have puppies we may know of someone who does--or a great dog that is available through rescue.
