Greetings All! I'm a long time dog lover but I am very fond of the Rottweiler breed. I was raised with 2 different Rotties growing up and I love them. I picked up my first Rottie as an adult about 4 and half years ago from the Southern States Rottweiler Rescue (www.ssrr.org). He was abused very early on in his life, his foster parents had him for a couple of months and I received him when he was 9 months old. He was very skidish and it took lots of love and about a year for us to see a big turn around in him. He's a healthy happy big boy. I recently decided to pick up a new Rottie for him to have a play mate. She's a beautiful 10 month old German Rottie and oh my GOD!!! Well I had forgotten how playful and clumsy and HARD HEADED they are as pups. Her previous owners did a wonderful job of crate training her and she's already house broken (both of my babies are inside dogs) but I'm having a time calming her down. We take them out at least 3 times a day for a long romp around in the back yard. And walking once a day. Her energy level is unreal! If there are any seasoned vets on Rotties, please feel free to share your wisdom, as my first Rottie wasn't this hard to get under control.

Hi rottielover!
I do not own rotties, but it sounds like you are doing right with a high energy pup. She is getting playtime and walks(very important).Maybe you could throw in another walk to help get rid of some of that energy? It sounds though like one of my dogs, they were just like a kid, and got overly excited! Once you got them started in playing they wouldn't stop, until thay were panting, and on the verge of collapse! I had even tried to calm them by holding them and petting them, and he would just wiggle around trying to get away so he could run and jump around more. He outgrew this, so maybe this is just a phase, lets hope!

That is exactly how she is. I have tried to hold her and stroke her and it's like she's got wiggle ants in her fur! :-) She is such a treat but LORD her energy is off the charts. I PRAY that this is just a phase. Nice to know I'm not the only poor soul with such an energetic pup.

Hi and Welcome to the forum! I am also quite new here. Have been spending lots of time reading previous posts. So far, it seems like a great forum!
