First Heat

Hello to all..... I have a question for anyone...... My little Sugar is now 6 months old, and is coming into her first heat. I didn't know they came in that early. But, I called my vet, and it's pretty much normal. He said that the smaller breeds came in sooner and more often. What fun... lol.... But, it seems like now that she's in heat, that she is regressing with her potty training. Does that seem normal? I don't know if her being in heat has anything to do with it or not, but it did occur to me. What do you all think. I would appreciate some input here. She was doing so well with potty training, but, now she is not doing so well. She pees on the carpet at times now, and she wasn't doing that. Maybe the cold weather is affecting her too, I just don't know, I am really only guessing. Help !!!! Thanks in advance for the feedback.....

aww bless her its normal for her to be this way as her hormones are all over the place at the moment she will feel bloated and pressure will be put on the bladder for the body to be ready to start just like a human once her seasons are regular her body will ajust to all the changes big hugs to your beautiful babe:)

Thank you Blueboys for the feedback....... I really thought that her being in h eat had something to do with her peeing on the floor again. She had just about stopped doing that. I am glad to know she's not just doing it on purpose to rebel or something. I did punish her though when she did it. She has actually about stopped it now. I watch her more closely now since I know she is apt to do it. I wasn't having to keep such a close eye on her there for a while, but now I think I have to, I don't like having to punish her. It makes me feel worse than it does her, lol !! You know how your mother use to tell you that when she spanked you it hurt her worse than it did you, well, that's how I am with Sugar. LOL>>>>>> Funny, I know !!! We are just like that with our babies though, aren't we !! Again, ty for the input, you have helped me a lot, once again>>>>>>.

aww you are more than welcome glad i was able to help in some way,i went through this when i had my female collie couldnt understand why she was weeing but then my vet explained it was hormones and pressure due to her being in season and he said when shes had a few her body will balance out big hugs to you bothhttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y193/21213/hug3.gif

I agree that what you puppy is doing is very normal. Bitches can come in any time from six month of age. Her hormones are going crazy and the pressure will make her pee lots more than normal, this is natures way of putting her scent down to attract males.:)
