I would appreciate any adv for my silky terrier, and if anyone has a Westie I would appreciate any kind of information on how a westie is like because I am interested to acquire one. Meanwhile the pictures of my Silky is posted up at my blog at www.silkyterriertips.blogspot.com Feel free to visit and comment. TQ:):)

Hi and welcome. Your silky is gorgeous. Sorry I can't offer much info with the silky or westies. I have a silky x whom I got from the pound when he was about 3 years old. The only prob I had was with his cruciate ligament which had to be repaired. No probs since. He is extremely active and comes to work with me at night in an Aged Care facility. The oldies love him. The only downer about him is that he tends to be yappy and I can't stop him from doing it. Arrrhhhhhhgggggg!!!!

Hello,
I am also new here, but I had a silky terrier for 15 years, she was my baby long before my furless babies came into the picture. I loved her for many reasons, but the best thing about her was the calm "big dog" demeanor in a little package. I am now breeding Westies and absolutely love their temperments. I have three kids ranging from 10 years old to 18 mos. and our Westies are the best with them. Of course always supervised (to protect the dogs and kids) and make sure my kids learn to be gentle, kind and respectful around animals. My Westies are easier to house train than my Silky was. They are so intelligent and charming. The puppies I placed are now 8 mos old and I get frequent glowing updates and pictures. Their new families report that they are the best dogs and several are on the waiting list for my next litter. I love both breeds and would love to have another Silky someday, however the Westies are hardy and playful which are such great traits for kids that I think we will be a Westie only family for awhile. Best of luck with your beautiful Silky.
