Hello All! Found this forum and was hoping to find a way to gather info and advice on my new newfie pup. She will be old enough to bring home by the end of November. I have owned a black lab, a golden lab, and a boxer before, so have basic knwledge. But no no knowledge of being a Newfie Mama!! So the long hair and massive body will be new. Now I think I will go look through this site and try to figure the in and outs. Any tips, advice will be greatly accepted!!:D

hi and a very big warm welcome to you and your new babe:)
Welcome!
You'll love being a Newfie owner. I had a Newfire/German Shepard mix...she passed away at 17 yrs old. The greatest combo ever.
Extremely intelligent. Protective while being very social and gentle. Great kid dog....smarter than the kids and knew how lead them. They used to lay on her and then sit on her while they drank from their bottles....when they became too heavy she knew how to gently turn and lift them off. My one son learned to walk while holding her....she never took the next step until he took one first....stayed perfectly at his side while he held her fur.
Raise with firm but gentleness and you'll have the best dog ever. Hopefully yours won't drool too much, but if a pure breed, chances are it will. HAve fun brushing out the coat in srping..........I trimmed the fur around feet so snow wouldn't clump and keep her feet cleaner.
