Hello everyone!

May I know if it's OK to blow dry your dog's hair everyday. I noticed that my dog isn't that attractive and cuddly if I don't blow dry his hair that's why everyday I let him enjoy the not-so-comfortable hot air of a blow dryer.

i dont see it being a problem but make sure its on the coolest setting as you know with human hair constant drying dries out the hair

I would worry about the skin.....I would think that you might dry out and hurt the natural oils the skin needs.

Oh yes right I forgot about the cool setting. My dog is like an American Eskimo non-sporting dog.

I see...So how often should I bathe my dog? Is thrice a week ok? If I do away with hair blower, what's the best alternative so as to dry my pet's hair quickly before he can jump from one sofa to another?

Why would you bathe a dog 3x a week? They can't possibly be getting that dirty. Are they getting into mud...or is yours a show dog...?

I think once every 3 months is sufficient.....and a high power dryer helps to remove loose hair if you dry and brush, but don't dry 100% as then the skin has been over dried. Good brushings help to remove dirt, dust and loose hair.....try using a couple of different brushes and a metal comb.

If your cleaning your dog that much to keep your house clean....warm water (no soap as can cause skin yeast infections) and a good drying of the paws should be sufficient with good brushings. If it's for your 'couch' then keep the dog off...........some people with little dogs allow dogs to walk all over furniture and jump on people but people will like your dogs more if they are trained and don't do that.

I think once a week is sufficient bathing for a dog. You do not want to dry out their skin, and then they will be miserable, and scratch all the time. Scratching causes a host of problems in itself. Skin irritations, and infections, etc..... Unless your dog is outside rolling in dirt and coming inside a mess, no need to bath them so often. Not good for them. I have a little Dachshund, and believe me, they do have an odor, but, not even a hound needs a bath three times a week. Good Luck !!

I remembered that I missed bathing my dog some time last week for the whole week. I tell you I didn't like his smell :( No my dog isn't rolling on mud or something, but as soon as my back turns against him, he will pour his food bowl over his body. So who can stand that thing without bathing him?

I think 3 times a week is too much, but if you do i would suggest a good shampoo like oatmeal, this helps their coats and skin (my dog had flaky skin, the oatmeal helped:) )
also, my vet had told me the frontline and other flea products do not work if you bathe your dog too often, and I only bathe mine once a month.(I know frontline states its waterproof, but thats what my vet said when I complained the frontline wasn't working well)

If his spilling food is the problem, maybe you should rethink the food you feed and also think on ways to cure the problem instead of relying on baths.
