i went for a walk along the beach today with my dog, and i saw a group of about 15 people walking their little toy dogs. there were chihuahuas, pugs, poodles and a couple more that i didn't really recognize, but what made them stand out is that they were all dressed up! every single one! it was like a club or something. most were just wearing wool sweaters, but one had a party hat and clown costume on (a poodle) and another one had chaps and a cowboy hat. it was the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen...

What about people who give their dogs really pompous sounding human names like Chester Smith III or Julius Stanfield? lol...

In my opinion the worst is when people dye their dog's hair a really vibrant color :)

I think its bug a lot of people, but some people really seems to love it so .... I guess as long as it doesn't harm or bother their dogs..

i dressed up my dog for halloween. but thats natural. he's been superman two years in a row. he just loves the cape so much. i have to admit though. i've definitely been to the pet store and seen cute pajamas or a tuxedo for dogs and they are just too cute. i almost buy them but i dont do it because i know coop would be embarassed. he has a great orange and white coat on him that he loves to show off. i think for other people its like when your kids are too small to realize that clothes can make them look silly soo the parents take advantage and buy that sailor outfit or the tutu because they look so darn cute in it. but if i belonged to a club that dressed up their dogs and walked them once a week or even once a month?! you bet my cooper would have the best outfit on everytime.

I have a bullmastiff, hates the rain and cold, she thinks she is such a princess. I bought her a velour coat, just so she will go out in winter, rain,
my husband hates it, but it does the trick. She prances in it, and he grumbles, when he walks her. I think that will probably be it for her wardrobe. He doesn't even want to get his fav. sport t-shirt for her!!!
Go figure.

I work in a pet supply store. I have helped people pick out and fit whole wardrobes for their dogs and sometimes cats (and even a rat or ferret). I've seen a bikini on a chihuahua and a tux on a beagle. We have raincoats with matching hats and Easter sun dresses. We even have bunny and duck hats (also for Easter). I am a trainer and on graduation day the dogs wear graduation caps (but just for pictures). It's a big business (too bad I don't get a cut of it)....lol ;)

I'm not all that keen in dressing up dogs but I love mine to wear a neck bandana. However, my mastiff x dane wears a winter coat as she really suffers from the cold.

Well, I was in the store yesterday, and guess what my husband was looking at for our new puppy, yep, clothes. Now, this is a man that has never procalimed to love dogs, but he seems to like our new one a lot. Enough to oooh, and ahhh over dog clothes....LoL !! It's usually me that runs to the pet department, now it's him !! I have a miniature Dachshund, and she'll probably wind up with a sweater on this winter !!!!!

I would have to say that the only reason I put a sweater on my dog is because her breed does not do well with cold weather. She shakes a lot when she is cold going out to potty in the morning. We only own one sweater which I wash when it gets dirty and she normally does not have it on all the time just when it's serving a purpose such as going out in the cold. I do believe that is one of the reasons they started making these but then it turned into just for looks!

Aww! I just love dressing up dogs..though I never have.. but I do love it when I saw dogs dressed up in a sweater or beanie hat.. but not much of a tuxedo, for no reason. But I think it was probably the party hat's birthday. I mean, why would you go walk a dog with a party hat on if it wasn't their birthday?? It also helps the cold.. like Peanut said. One of the reasons I want a new puppy is because I can dress her up whenever.. and she won't get angry! Lol.

I used to think it was cruel, but if the dog likes it I suppose it doesn't do any harm. My fiance' want's to buy our dog Kyle a Leeds United kit, no chance. Derby County kit a different story! As long as you have a dog for the right reason (LOVE) and he enjoys dressing up I persume it's ok.

Haha, that's so funny! One of my dogs, Allie, is too.. er.. obese for clothes. Lol! They probably don't make them for little girls with her size, tho she is SO adorable! =)
My other is too old [ 16 - go figure!! ] and I don't get why you would think we are WeIrD if we dress our dog. Tons of people do it-- that's like calling half the world [ when you don't know them! ] weird! I mean, okay, I admit those outfits were a little much but that's still veddy cute to me. When I get another pup, all I'm going to do is buy clothes for her. Hehe. That's me! Especially at PetSmart ! They have the cuuutest clothes for animals!
