Hello everyone, it's me again!

I got some wonderful advise on helping our little Black and Tan Coonhound come out of his shell, though he is well on his way....lol....We need to change his name so he can forget his creepy and desolate past, he is the "Silo" puppy I have gone crazy posting about. The thing is, I have not found or just taken the time to learn how to get pictures from my camcorder to the computer...I have the cord, but not the books...I promise I will work on it. So, helping me with a name may not be that easy...I will do best I can to describe him...

He is a typical Black and Tan Coonhound, when adult will look like a BloodHound but with black body, tan legs, chest, eyebrows, and face, with a black mask around the eyes and down the bridge of his nose, the top of his head is black and his muzzle is tan....if ever a dog was marked to be named Bandit....it's him, perfect mask...but overdone name! He has no other colors anywhere...his thick black tail is long and curls up and over his back when he is running and playing, relaxed it lays down. He has the typical HUGE and LONG black hound dog ears. His bellar, though still a bit squeaky, is all hound too. He is a talker, of course I encourage him....we have many conversations, about what I have no clue, but he seems to enjoy them. He also barks at anything outside or when a car pulls up...guard dog already, and he gets very mad and barking and hair up if he thinks I am in any danger.

His attitude...amazing...tough, and will stick up for himself with all his brothers and sisters....no longer letting them steal his toys. He thinks nothing of launching himself at his brother Moose (lab) who weighs about 90-95 pounds compared to Silo's 30 pounds. He is also a push over for belly rubs.....he comes up to me, flops, rolls, looks up at me with those soulful brown eyes, sticks his paw in the air, then taps me with it until I give in....he will let me do anything to him, nails, ear drops, brush...as long as I scratch his belly...he usually falls asleep, wakes with a start and then begs for more...he is very smart too, will go bark at the shelf the leashes are hung on or the window if he has to go out. For as tough as he is, if he bites off more than he can chew or his brothers and sisters gang up on him, he puts the hair up on his back and runs bellaring to me and hides behind me or in between my legs, then of course he jumps out growling and barking, bites an ear or tail and dives back behind or between me...it's a hoot! He is also a love, loves to chase the kitten around the house, then jump up next to me on the couch and get into my lap, or lay his head in my lap, beg for scratches and fall asleep, greetings include kisses...and of course....belly rubs...never had a dog soooo fond of them! His favorite thing, other than terrorizing his brothers and sisters, is a metal bowl full of ice cubes, he runs in circles until I put it down...then he runs to the bowl, digs all the cubes out with his paw and then pushes them around, chases them and bellars at them...he also keeps the doggie pool clean, can't stand a thing in it...he lays in it and eats all the bugs out! He is a goof! He chases anything that moves, flies, loves to chase fire flys, butterflys...just anything..even treed a cat one day.
He appears very goofy, laid back at times, enegetic, brave , and just your all round NOBLE BEAST in the making.....Dave, hubby likes Boscoe...I'm not sure that does him justice, I always thought the next hound would be "Rupurt"...but that doesn't seem to suit him either...I have though of "Axle"...yeah I know, but I was a teenager of the '80's and he is still my hero...Don't say it, I know...but yes it's true....Do you see how we are???LOL....PLEASE HELP...AND THANKS!:(:o:D:eek:

Thanks Blueboys! Awesome site! I have been everywhere and have a list of Irish, Polish, German, Native American, Egyptian, Greek, Italian, etc...even a Southern names list...we just can't pin it down! I got pictures emailed to my pc from my phone, but for some reason though the pc says they were sent to laptop..they are not showing up...I just thought, need to check my spam folder...may have to bring forum up on my pc...anyway...we have never had such a hard time...usually a name makes itself obvious within a few days...

I am torn with "Socrates" meaning powerful noise, which believe me...he is, very hound...constantly barking and bellaring...like I said we have many long talks and he seems to appreciate them, but I have no idea what we are talking about...lol..I also like "Gunther" German for war like...and he starts all kinds of stuff with the other dogs...have to seperate him when the others just want some peace...lol...I also like plain ole "Clyde"...yes of Bonnie and Clyde...problem is when I look at him and call him these names...they just don't seem right....although Socrates is the closest. I also just love "Wati" it means rebel in Egyptian...but sounds wierd!

My husband likes the Southern names like...Buford, Barkley and he is also fond of Boscoe, Alastar meaning defender of man in Irish I believe....he also likes Ebbe...egyptian for strong as a boar....He doesn't mid Socrates, but feels silly to open the door and holler it...

Anyway, sorry to ramble...I am going to work on those pictures so I can post one of him....might get some good suggestions...I hope...wish me luck and take care....lol and thanks!

Thank you sooo much! I appreciate the help, and I like that! We are still all over the board...but I am calling him "Socrates", and it suits him more and more every day...just a constant talker! I love it! He has come out of his shell big time...hubby even said we need to have a "coming out" party, its amazing! He runs up to us both now and bellars until we bend down and do kisses, belly rubs, and pats. He is soooo much fun! Ya know, its a shame to admit...I love all my animals, but I always seem to bond more with "the boys"...not sure why? That would make for a good topic...I think it's been done though. THanks again for all the info Blueboys...I appreciate it!! Have a good one!
