*** HELP!!***Anyone out there have a Schipperke?

I have a 6 month old Schipperke puppy and she is sooooo crazy. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has a Schipperke and if you could provide any tips on handling the breed, etc. We got her from a breeder when she was 9 weeks old. She's so cute and we love her dearly, but man! She is out of control!!! I would love any stories or tips in reference to the breed.

she does like water and she's very sociable with other dogs and cats, actually. schipperkes are known for being canal boat dogs. they were bred to protect the captain and crew of canal boats and hunt mice and vermon on the boats. they are very, very high-energy. i have a 7 year old son and she seems to be ok with him, but she plays very rough. the breed in general is supposed to be very good with kids.

My nanny had one named Pepe, she got killed by a coyote =(. She was also very hyper, especially with a lot of other people around. My nanny didn't really do anything to make her calm down besides take her outside and put her on a runner. Then she was calm.
