The powers to be here can ceratinly contact retaillers and manufactures to see if they will sponsor anything.

Again, Furlongs would certianly be happy to provide a prize.

A photo contest, best pet advice post, most responses to posts are just a few ideas.

Really just need a thread, a prize, a dead line and votes.

If it works then maybe make contests a regular thing?

Just to follow up on this, do you have any recommendations on who we should contact for this sort of thing (in terms of potential sponsors)? I think it would be fun to run a contest that could benefit rescue organizations or something similar. If anyone has any ideas, please post here--I'll be trying to come up with some myself as well.

As I mentioned Furlong's Pet Supply would consider sponsoring a prize for the contest. I don't know how you would incorporate benefiting a rescue since no actual monies would be generated.

Does a charity have to benefit? Giving a prize to the most valuable post certainly would help the animal community since pet owners rely upon forums like this as a resource.

Or maybe a different sort of contest..., like this idea? :
We would all be allowed [not required to enter!] to enter the contest. The contest would be of at least 500 words, and you would pick a dog and write an essay on why you think it's the best dog breed. Also, if you entered you would have to attach a picture of this breed. Send the essay via email. The prize we could leave up to Furlongs or someone / something else.
