ooh hope all goes well i didnt think you were allowed to dock your own pets tails here in the uk its against the law for docking any breed of dog

congrats on the big event! docking is usually done within a few days after birth...not more than a week...what we did with our Boxers is to take them to our Vet. That way they removed the dewclaws at the same time. 1 way to dock tails is harsh...(i think) some take needle nosed pliers and 'twist' the tail "off"!!! It is much better to have the Vet remove the tails...that way they can stitch the area up!

ive never understood why people would want to dock there dogs tail it was born with it let it keep it,thats why here in the uk only tails docked are if they have torn the tail all docking of all breeds is against the law here

We usually take our dogs to the vet to have tails docked and dew claws removed on the second or third day after birth. If you haven't already got a plan for identifying your pups, you might check out Critter Collars. Good luck!!

I'm sorry, but it just hurts me to think about cutting a dogs tail off at all. If the good Lord didn't mean for them to have a tail, he wouldn't have given them one. That's just my opinion, but, I could not do it. You know it hurts the little thing. Just like they use to say that circumsising a little boy when he's born didn't hurt either. But, now they know that it does, otherwise,why in the world would he cry so when they do it. Don't mean to offend anyone, I just am too tender hearted to have it done or to understand why anyone else would !!!
