Hello,

I live in Kuala Lumpur, located near the equator in South East Asia.
The weather is humid and hot (about 33 - 36 degrees Celsius) all year long.

Is Samoyed suitable for such weather? I have seen a few Samoyeds here, and a LOT of Siberian Huskies.

While I would love to get a Samoyed, I will not get one and watch him/her suffer from being incompatible with our local weather. My friend in California has one and I thoroughly adore his Samoyed when I flew over there for vacation a few months ago!

Please advice.

Regards,
BK

I was reading about the samoyed on this website, and for hot weather sutability, it's only 2/10 stars. I think this breed is best for cooler climates, but maybe if he had a real short hair cut? I'm not totally sure. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

i had a samoyed in the past and it gets quite hot in the summer here (reaches up to 35 celcius but winter can be cold)...samoyed are usually better off in colder weather....make sure that theyre constantly in a room with A/C except when ure walking it and shorten its hair...i have chow chows at the moment and theyre also suffering from the hot summer weather so i shaved off all their fur and keep them in A/C all the time...if u want the dog but ure not willing to sacrifice his good looks by shaving off his hair then i would advise that u get a breed that is "equiped" for hot weather but if ure willing to let go of his hair then i say go for it
