MY dog an american eskimo had a seizure about a 8 weeks ago and it seems as if he has been gaining weight eventhough he is on a diet and that he has lost the movement in his back legs some not sure though. The vet has him on potassium bromide and he was on phenobarbotal for about 2 weeks. has anyone had any experience with this and any comments or advice.

So sorry to hear about your dog having seizures and all. I know how you must feel. Your dog might have epilepsy. Or if it had a blow to the head, that can cause seizures. Hate to say it, but if it has seizures now, it probably will have them in the future. They can be controlled with medication though. And, your dog can live a long happy life like that. Hope I was some help

Sorry to hear about your dog. Its a very scary thing when the seizures occur. One of our Boykin Spaniels was sound asleep on the end of our bed one evening and went into a seizure. The seizures kept coming and coming. We were at the vet's just about every day, from Friday when the started to Tuesday, when we had to put her to sleep. It was awful, but she just kept deteriorating. I wish it was something we could have controlled with meds, but that wasn't our experience as it just went from bad to worse. I'm hopefuly that your dog's seizures are controlled. My girlfriend's fox terrier has them, but it only seems to be loud noises that set her off, so she's not on any meds.

Good luck,
