most versatile hunting dog?

my grandparents and i are looking for a versataille hunting dog. we have read a lot of info on brittany spaniels and german shorthaired pointers. do you think it is worth getting one or not? are there any downsides to either? any other breeds you reccommend?

We've currently got a litter of Boykin Spaniel / Braque Francais puppies available. These flusher/pointer crosses should turn out to be excellent hunters! We hunt upland birds as well as ducks with the dogs, in Montana. We currently have 3 males and 6 females available. They were born on July 4/07. Let me know if this is of some intereste to you.:)
