My brother just taught his Giant Schnauzer mix to do a "trick" that I'm not so sure about. Basically, he calls the dog, the dog comes over and stands in front of him, and then my brother bows out his legs a bit and the dog walks through them and then immediately turns around (as does my brother, if the dog turns right my brother turns left) and does it again. I saw them do it 22 times in a row yesterday before the dog got bored / distracted. Boys are weird...

Regann can do the same thing, with a twist. She loves the frizbee, tennis balls..etc..
I started teaching her to fetch the frizbee and because she is real fast I couldn't get it out far enough:) So what I taught her to do is circle around me until I tell her through which she will go through my legs and travel out as I throw the frizbee. It works much better and I can throw the frizbee further out. She now will weave through my legs while walking or I que her with my knees so she knows to weave in and out. She will do this until I tell her to stop and then she still wants to play..

thats a great idea. i've seen one person at the dog park that makes their dog, bailey, run circles around their legs while they throw the ball. since he's running circles while they throw, he doesnt really see where the ball goes so it makes it even better for him to go hunt the ball down and then bring it back. he really really loves doing it. so much so that he just keeps going until he cant hold himself up and plops down on the ground mid-stride.

It sounds like these dogs need a more challenging game. Frances, have you ever considered using some sort of skeet shooter to launch your frisbee? :)

I have used a ball launcher, but it's more fun for me if I can play with her. She has a lot of other tricks, She I can shoot her and she dies, she plays find, this comes in handy with serch and rescue work we have been working on. She also tracks. We keep very busy. There are so many tricks she knows I just find something else to keep her mind occupied. Right now she loves to climb on the 5 ft snow drifts and will get to the top and laugh at me. I'm old and can't climb as fast as her. LOL
