I used to have a dog with a blood clot in her brain. This made her hyperactive. We would give her orange blossom tea instead of plain drinking water. You can buy it where you find any herbal teas. Boil water, add a couple of tea bags, let it cool, take out the tea bags and put it in the water bowl.
It's a natural tranquilizer and it's not harmful.

or u can simply take out ur dogs and play with them til theyre exhausted...if theres nothing medically/physically wrong with ur dog then i dt think its a good idea to give it tranquilizers...all dogs are energetic but with the right amount of exercise, all can be handled

Some dogs are naturally hyper, but sedation is not the answer. I agree with sandram, just tire the dog out, and it'll sleep at night. Play, play, play, you should be doing that anyway, to form a bond with your dog. Besides, it's fun !!

Hi there,
Great advice everyone, and I agree whole heatedly...we rescued a 6 month old lab with an embedded collar, he was raoming on the highway, his name is Moose. Well over 3 decades of raising large breed hounds who I thought were enegetic...I got a little wake up call with Moose!! As I understand most labs are until they are 2 yrs old he was just a wiggling blubbering ball of energy....very destructive...ate, well, easier to talk about what he didn't eat and chew...anyway....I listened to Ceasar Milan and thought about what he was saying, realized above normal energy Moose was crying out for something....more play time...so I beefed up the time and length of our walks, played chase and fetch...even at night in the garage (we cleaned out the 2 car garage...nothing but dog beds and kennels...so lots of room!) and over night he became a wonderful obiediant love of 90 pounds...it was work don't get me wrong...3 45 minute walks a day at least...time in the run and on his 50 ft tie out, lots of sturdy hard rubber chew toys..and the final touch, letting him in at night to sleep with me...should be in his kennel, but I spoiled him and now he is on the bed with hubby and I....
The point...I finally got enough exercise, attention, and bonding time in his life and the results were Phenomanal....he doesn't jump, chew, bark, destroy anything anymore...knows all his commands and always sits when approached...we can even wrestle now and he doesn't bite down hard or hurt any part of the body......I was at my wits end and actually trying to place him in a Lab rescue...it can be done, and I have 4 acres, but no fencing yet...lots of runs, and tie outs with a doggie pool and lots of toys...I never leave him on a tie out unsupervised though...makes for mean dogs...just about an hour 2 times a day while the nieghborhood dogs are visiting, that way he can play with them, dip in the pool and all that fun energy burning stuff....GOOD Luck, trust me...you must add more exercise and bonding time or you will go NUTS!!!!!!!!!!! It so worth it though, even my husband and friends cant believe he is the same dog!

With training comes a sense of security and contentment. Security and contentment = calm.
Of course exercise takes the edge of all of us!

we all can't say it enough... a tired dog is a happy dog!!! Take him to an off leash park.. it will teach him social skills, and he will run around like crazy and all you have to do is stand and watch ;) or start walking/ jogging... you and your pup will be much happier and healthier!
