why? I recently adopted a four-year-old pug who had previously lived in an outdoor kennel. It took a few days to housetrain her but she got it down pretty quickly. Everything was fine for more than a month but she recently started pooping and peeing at night sometimes.

Nothing has changed with her diet or walking routine. I do not suspect that anything is medically wrong with her. One thing I have noticed is that she does not seem to know that going inside is wrong. Whereas other housebroken dogs that I have had become deeply ashamed when they have an accident, she runs around her mess as happy as ever. We used all positive training techniques to housebreak her but I need her to understand that going inside is wrong. It's hard because I'm asleep so I can't punish her when it would actually be meaningful to her. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can train her out of this bad habit? Thanks!

since u cant train her properly except if ure awake and catch her in the act, i suggest u give her her dinner at an earlier time and then take her for a walk i n order to releive herself...otherwise,ure gonna have to keep urself awake for a while and when she does it,point her nose towards it then isolate her for 30 min outside...

You could try crating her at night. Dog's usually won't go to the bathroom in their "own space" so it might get her nose in the right place again :)
