Hello all. I'm new here. My dog is a beagle, about 1.5 yrs old, and full of energy. He loves to play fetch and tug o war. I've heard that you shouldn't let them "win" tug of war too often, because then it gives them a feeling of dominance (instead of the owner being alpha dog). Is this true?? I've always thought of it as just a game.

Thanks,
Larry

personally, I tend to not play games that I lose every time. I have always figured the same would go for anyone else, so I let my dog win games sometimes, any dispute over alpha dog status ends with my dog on its back, me on top of it, gripping the dogs "cheeks", I have been using this technique for atleast ten years after reading a book entitled "Being your dogs best friend" which was written by a group of monks in NY who specialized in breeding german shepard dogs
