How can I keep my 10 year old Spaniel mixed breed dog from forgetting her

housetraining? My dog used to be able to ``hold'' her business until I got home from work when she was kept in a dog crate. Now she doesn't like to be in it, and is able to squeeze herself out of the corners. She'll bark and whine when I put her in, and she'll do her business in the crate.

Well, her bladder probably isn't working as well anymore. She can't hold it in as long, so she needs to be taken out to relieve herself more often. That's probably why she wants to get out of her crate, because she knows she shouldn't go to the bathroom in it but can't help herself. Just a thought, since she is so old. That's the way our dachshund was when he got to be 12, but we had a dog door so he could get out when he needed to.
