...the pack? My sister's puppy licks her boyfriend's ears and she said the vet said that it meant that the dog knew who was the leader...is this true?

Dogs lick for a lot of reasons. Licking is a submissive social signal, first of all, allowing dogs to show deference to dominant "pack members." Or maybe his ears are stinky. Dogs seem to like stinky things. J/K.

Nah, I've never heard of that. The way to determine whether your dog thinks you're the pack leader is by the level of respect that's shown to you. If you and 3 other people are in the room and you all call her at the same time, she'll come to you first b.c you're the pack leader. She shows more obedience to the pack leader, they'll have a specific bond, speak their own language.

Dogs, especially puppies just like lickin'.

lickin is normal...doesnt mean anything...my dog licks everyone all the time and it has nothing to do with dominance
