My husband has always been into animals like bunnies, ferrets, hamsters, rats, etc...
we have a lab puppy. of course we're not thinking of getting one of these animals right now but can the lab be trained not to attack them?
thanks

Leah -

I have owned 2-3 labs in my life, and the are oustanding dogs. They listen well, and have an amazing laid back personality. In my experience, they have never attacked any small animal. Infact when I had them, my family also owned two ferrets, a bird, and a rabbit. Unless they are told to do so, your lab shouldn't attack your husbands animals, nor any animal. Also, if your puppy is well behaved and listens to you, there shouldn't be any problem. Hopefully I cleared that up for you. But you may want to stick around and listen for others advice, after all labs aren't my forte.

i think all dogs can be trained to be friendly around other animals, they just need to be well trained and listen to u proprly and unconditioally and its always better if the dog is still a puppy when he gets introduced to other animals...i had a husky who lived with a cat, a bird and 2 hamsters but she was younger than 6 months old when she "met" all of them...
