Hi All, First timer. Am looking to getting a pup. Don't know whether to get a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (in New Zealand we call them Staffys) I haven't had one, but did have a great Rough Coated Collie and after her another great dog a German Shepherd. Just a bit concerned about how energetic these Staffys are.

yeah, those are cool dogs. unfortunately i dont have enough personal experience to give a solid reply on their energy level... it looks like they are rated 6/10 here on breeder retriever in terms of liveliness. anyone else have info?

i can tell you for sure that compared to a collie, stafforshire terriers are no more energetic, they can be either just as energetic or less, but they are great dogs.

my sister used to have a staffy. i'd say a 6 / 10 for energy is a pretty good way to put it. my sister's staffy loved to go outside and play and was really energetic during games, but it was pretty chill and quiet around the house. all in all, a really nice dog with good manners but also fun to play with.

I have a 7 month old collie, and I gotta tell ya, she's got enough energy to outrun a cheetah lol.. But I love her to pieces..

Just a bit concerned about how energetic these Staffys are.

this depends on how much you excercise the staff and if its female or male and is it fixed or intact... you would have to go along long way to find a staffy with as much energy as a collie but them little legs of the staff carry them far and fast, great dogs and really tough for there size.. if i was ever to have a small dog, it would be a staffy.

Staffys generally need quite a lot of exercise (I think...) so if you haven't had dogs for awhile, I don't really recommend them for you. They are energetic and need a lot of work. But I don't blame you... Staffys are great.

Good Luck Anyway

there is nothing wrong with getting a staff, even if its your first dog.. all they require is good excersise and to be let know who is boss, they are very small and easy to handle..

go ahead and get one, you wont be sorry.. they are excellent little dogs to have.

If you want one to get one then all means do! You did have dogs in the past.
There is places to get them besides a breeders to get a puppy. :D However
you would want a puppy though, right? Well good luck with your new dog. ;)

Just do some research online, other places about the breed you want before
you make your choice if this wonderful breed you have your eyes are on is
the right one for you.
