they sell powder to add to his food that is supposed to make poop taste worse, also stuff to add to cat's food so dogs don't go for the granola snacks in the litter box

My dog still to this day will do the same thing if he has an "accident" in the house. And he HURRYS to eat it if he knows I'm going to clean it up! I don't know if they are trying to hide the fact they did something wrong or what.
My mom recommended putting Adolf's meat tenderizer in his food - just a little and it doesnt hurt them. It's supposed to make it taste bad when it comes out the other end. However, my dog wouldn't eat his food if it was in there but hes picky Worth a shot if you already have it in your house!

everytime u see ur dog eating hi poop make sure u stop him and make him realize its wrong...u have to condition to make him realize its wrong...i had a rott who ate his and it just caused his breath to stink and lead to a health problem after a while( he even started drinkin water from the toilet)...there are lots of products like the one mentioned that could help but training and conditioning is very important too...

Well, I feel better !! My last little dog did the same thing. Ate his poop. I never understood what made him do that, but it's good to know that other people have the same problem I had. My dog that I have now doesn't seem to want to do that. I hope she never starts it either. It couldn't be healthy for them to eat it !!

I read online that you can add meat tenderizer to their food....supposed to help make the taste worse. caught my malamute eating his frozen this winter, so i googled it and that was one of the most popular solutions. he only did so the one time, so i haven't tried it....
good luck!

The term for eating poo is coprophagia. Coprophagia is the consumption of feces, from the Greek copros (feces) and phagein (eat). Many animal species have evolved to practice coprophagia; other species do not normally consume feces but may do so under unusual conditions.
It is believed that coprophagia happens because of a nutritional defficiency not beacuse it did not eat enough. What does your dog eat? If it eats a low quality kibble such as purina, Iams, eukanuba etc... which are loaded with grains and lack protein, it is trying to get more protein. I would suggest switching your dogs diet to a high quality kibble such as Candidae, Innova, solid gold or do research raw of BARF diets and switch ovwer if you are comfortable with that.

adding fresh chopped pineapple to your dogs food is a good way of stopping your eating eating its own poo after the pineapple is absorbed into the body and comes out as waste it gives of a nasty smell to the poo and dogs and pups dont like this

Hi there!
My Sasha, 12 yr old RR, does the same thing..sorta...she doesn't eat hers, but eats everyone elses...especially after they have their monthly heart worm and bug preventative...flavored chewies...vet says it is just a spin on a very RR trait...constant "counter surfing and feeling hungry"...it's true I have read alot about the RR insatiable hunger that is in their mind...I stopped it with adding Adolfs meat tenderizer to the other dogs food...worked like a charm....good luck!
