My upstairs neighbor has a hearding type dog. I know what it is, the name just escapes me, at the moment. Border collie looking. Anyway, she is terrible with people! The girl knows this. She still allows her to go potty and to go to and from the car without a leash. Now, let's not forget I live in a "major" city that has strict leash laws. Or the fact that she doesn't pick up after her pooch, which is mandatory here. And how about the fact that there is a busy road just a ditch away?

So, anyway. The whole point is that her dog will grab our pant legs and bark at us frantically. I have more than once been deterred from going into my own home. My door is under her stairs. She calls the dog back and apologizes. I have often suggested she use a leash. The dog is under terrible control when she is after someone. I want to turn her into the office, but I don't want the dog to get left at the pound because of bad behaviour. I am just sick of my hubby and I being attacked and I am scared it will be worse than a pant leg one day. we are getting very warm weather which means shorts. My dad also doesn't like coming over and my friends are very weary. I just don't want the poor dog to get any bad consequinces from this. It's not her fault the owner is too lazy to use a leash and walk with her.

Other people here don't use leashes, but their dogs are very friendly and very well trained. I still question it for the dogs safety, but they are the ones that come immediately when called. She uses this as a reason not to leash her dog and claims her dog is very well trained as well. I hate things like this....

I am with you Mrs B. I don't like dogs out of control and it is the responsibility of the owners to train them and keep them under control. Sometimes I wonder why people have pets. Sounds as tho it is no use talking to her as she says the dog is trained. If you and your hubby are being attacked all the time it may be in the best interest of the dog for you to speak to someone in animal control. It is probably only a matter of time before he hurts a child. All the best and hope you are able to sort out the problem.

Do you live in an apartment building or have a homeowner's association?
I would start with having a talk with the management or president of the assoc.

I live in an apartment building. But I just found out that she is moving in one week. So I'm just not going to say anything. She is moving back to her mom's house. She just graduated. I am glad. Hopefully the dog won't be so spaztic without so many other ppl passing all the time. And maybe her mom will have better control of the situation.
