Hi I have a 5 month old Welsh Corgi named Chewy. He has been bitting my 3 year old and going after her when he is eating treats and bones when she isn't even trying to take them from him. Does anyone know what I can do to fix the problem? thank you for any help you can give.

Your dog may feel that his dining area is being threatened. I had a dog that was like that with everyone. We eventually just had him sit/stay and wait for us to finish pouring his food and then everyone would leave his dining area until he was done. Above all, you must not condone this behaviour. A firm "NO BITE!" followed by ignoring the dog for a very short while (remember, dogs have short memories) could help.

Does he do this with anyone else in your family? Can you take his bone? Does he do it with toys? Most dogs don't respect children, because children don't command respect like most adults do. I would personally take away all bones when my child was out and about. If this was most of the time, either my dog would never get bones or I'd put him outside with it. However if he is having an issue with her at 5mo's, he may have issues with her over other things in the future. Watch him carefully to see how this evolves between him and your child. Reject ALL agression. There must always be consequences for aggression. Growling or barring teeth is a no no, take his bone away (if your letting him have one still) each time he does it and tell him no. Tyler
