Maia

Kia ora - My name is Penny - I live down under in New Zealand - Maia is our family Rottie. (purebred) I am hoping there is someone out there who might share some knowledge of why Rottweiller's are so aggressive towards cats. This is our second Rottie - our first (Sheba) died with a brain tumor and she too did not like cats and would go after them like a rocket.
Maia is 5 now and she is a beautiful, gentle natured companion BUT she does not like cats and will chase and kill them if she catches them. (thankfully that has only happened once :( )
We have our own cat who is a few years older than Maia and this cat has dominated the dog since she was a puppy. Maia will cuddle with her, groom her and play with her but any other cats had better be careful!
There are some very pretty and obviously cheeky cats who sit just on the other-side of our 6 foot high fence tormenting our lovely dog who marches up and down the fence line growling :p
Is this a result of breeding or just a quirk NZ Rotties may have !!
