Hello. I am new to posting. I am currently gathering information on standard poodles. I am allergic to most other breeds so I want a poodle. I would like a bigger dog-thus the standard. I have never purchased a dog before and really not sure about picking a place. I was curious if anyone knows why a breeder would say that they will not sell to a breeder? Any information will be helpful. thanks

I suggest that you use this link:
It has a lot of info on dogs, and which breeders to trust, and what to do.
Hope I helped,
Jakey

Thank you so much. That link was extrememly helpful. I want to learn as much as I can before buying a pup! What kind of dog do you have?

Your welcome. :) I find that site having a lot of good information on dogs. I am getting a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, so I don't actually have a dog YET. But I like doing research, and write papers on them.

Corgi's are so cute. My neighbor up the street has 3 of them. Have you actually picked your puppy yet? That's the hardest part for me because as soon as I see a puppy, I am going to fall in love.......all puppies are cute. I would rather pick a puppy from a litter rather than order a puppy a pregnant dog! Your breeder info page actually helped me know what to ask 1st THEN look at the puppies! Keep me posted.

I know! The first time I saw a picture of one, I fell in love with them! You're neighbor is so lucky! I haven't picked my puppy yet. I have seen a few pictures of the litter, and there is one that I really like! Yes, that's the hardest part. All puppies are so cute! Same here. If you just ordered a puppy from a pregnant dog, you wouldn't know what it will look like! The breeder info page tells a lot about what to do, when picking a pup and all.

They have other breeds you can get that would make ya sick, they are two purebred mixed in together, one always being a poodle. Are you sure you are sick to dogs, I used to be when I was a kid or whatever but not anymore for the past who know how many years, I want a corgi puppy! I love them amoung tons of other dog breeds and mixies.

Yes I am sure I am still allergic.! I know about the mixed poo breeds........ I would need to be absolutely sure that the mix is a true half poodle and halp something else. I was interested in a Goldendoodle but was and almost did that. I am just too nervous about getting a puppy that I will have for 20 years and being allergic! That's why I am going for the sure thing!!

I understand, well people with poodle mixies had no problems with being ill from them, so I just ask to keep an open mind about them to, although I guess with a purebred you can show and that types of stuff lol. What kind of dog sports or things you plan on doing with your dog, same question to the one who wants a corgi, I want one too lol. With a tail though.

Yes, I agree, Doggies4Evers. I love corgis! If you like the tails, the Cardigan Welsh Corgis have them, so maybe you should get one. :) My avatar is a corgi, but its a Pembroke. It has no tail. :p
Poodles are pretty nice,
Jakey
But I generally love all dogs :)

It's really up to you what you pick for yourself, a standard poodle will do fine.
Can always try a poodle mix, but if you get a purebred it will be taller like you want.
Comes in many colors to choose from, just need to read up on the bred or contact breeders.
Then bring home you new puppy, there is poodle resuces you can try too.

I guess its just me, I love to see a dog tail wag, think it should be optional
for the people buying the puppies if they want the purebred with tail or not.
:(
