Hi, I just joined. I have 3 golden retrievers and have fed them all kibble since puppyhood. I have a friend who swears by raw food. Says it's better for their teeth and digestive systems. He also says it's cheaper, which I find hard to believe. My 3 dogs take nearly a week to go through an 18-lb bag of $9 kibble. Any advice?

Hi, yes I certainly agree with your friend, I certainly wouldn't give them it every day maybe twice a week, I am also a great believer in bones especially the large knuckle ones, don't boil the bone give it raw, it's good for their teeth, the best is the raw marrow inside, they love it and it is good for them.
Find a good butcher :)

make sure that you give them vitamins as well on top of it all. I always mix a bit of veggies in with our dogs foods as well.
I also go to the nearby stockyards and purchase a gizzards, and other scraps and cook it up as a form of slump for the dogs as well.
with all the dog food recalls i am backing away from dryfoods. My dogs are on science diet ID right now along with their BARF diet

I have to say that I do partially approve of your friends diet. Like Margaret said, the bones and all are very good for your dogs diet, but however, it isn't healthy to give them that all the time.
Have a nice day,
