hey everyone,

i'm not sure if this qualifies as a story (it's more of an anecdote) but i thought i'd share it anyway cus it's just so darn cute!

i've been babysitting my brother's boxer for the last month or so and every evening i take him to the doggy park across the street. for the last week there has been a man who brings a corgi every day, and just yesterday i noticed that this corgi (his name is jed) has really fallen for duncan (the boxer). he follows duncan around everywhere, darting in and out between his legs, and is constantly looking up at him with that sweet little corgi expression. duncan seems to have taken the little guy under his wing and the two will often play by themselves and totally ignore the other dogs in the park! and yesterday, when i went to put duncan's leash back on and take him home, jed kept following us until his owner finally had to leash him up too! it's the most adorable thing i've ever seen!

that's so cute! my dog has an admirer too! i have a brittany spaniel and a chihuahua named Wishbone just can't get enough of him. Wishbone tries to get my Cooper to run and play, but Coop's just so focused on the ball that he doesn't see him there. but Wishbone doesn't give up. if Cooper's running after the ball, he's right behind him jumping and barking. it's so cute to see this little guy try to get my dog to rough-house. he's got alot of determination because he never leaves Cooper's side until one of them has to leave.

I'm just curious, does this kind of dog to dog affection normally happen more with dogs of the same breed? Obviously it can happen with different breeds, but I'm just wondering if the dogs recognize their own "kind" and try to make friends...

I don't think it makes a big difference with most breeds, but there are some notable exceptions. Chihuahuas seem to hate every dog except other chihuahuas.

I can verify that about Chihuahuas, but I'd go further and say they hate everything. Nasty little creatures...

I've seen a Chihuahua terrorize a in-house guard dog, funny stuff, until the little guy comes after you hahah
