hey everyone,
i'm assuming everyone here understands that dogs need exercise, right? and they are happy with whatever they can get. but sometimes you as the owner can get bored by going to the same old park everyday or walking the same route. well, i just found out that certain city or counties have groups of dog owners that get together a few times a month and do something fun all together like go on a hike or have an agility trainer set up a little course and have the dogs give it a go. you should check your local community paper or website or even pet store and see if your area offers anything like that. it's fun! not just for your dog, but for you too. you may even find a new hobby!

Thanks for the heads up, Amie. If anyone out there has any information on one of these events, please post about it in the forum or let us know about it directly so we can spread the word.

There is another website that caters to all kinds of groups for socializing. I was a group administrator for a Rottweiler group here in New Jersey. The group had something like 23 members and everybody wanted to get together abnd have play dates, etc, but trying to get them to meetup was like pulling teeth without novacaine. (the politics and quilting groups seemed to thrive).
How about starting a new thread just for this purpose and get groups by state, county or town? I live in Central N.J. If anybody wants to meet with dogs, I am president of The Central Jersey Rottweiler Verein and we get a small group to go to PetSmart and socialize our dogs there and hand out literature on the negative effects of Breed Specific Legislation. If anyone with friendly Pits, GSD's, Rott's,etc want to fight BSL's let me know.
