I am looking to find a reputable schutzhund trainer for my 3 yr old German Shepherd. She is a loving dog, but I am afraid when I broke her of nipping and biting when she was pup, she may not bite if need be, or worse, bite and go after throats out of instinctive behavior. and also for control of the situation if she ever does bite. (release) I don't want her to get hurt if we encounter a bad guy, whether physically or legally. Yet I don't want a "beginner" trainer that has an idea, but just makes her vicious, instead of "Controlled Agression". Did I say all that right?

Are you looking for a schutzhund trainer or a personal protection trainer?

Might ask your local policeK9 officers sometimes they know of people
that might be good.

I don't think just because you train your dog in Sch that you should worry about her biting other people. A lot of that depends on your dogs nerves/temperment. All of the bites in Sch are done on sleeves, that I think are always visible. The dogs sees a sleeve and then goes into a higher drive and wants the bite. If the dog doesn't see a sleeve he doesn't want to bite and subsequent reward, which is the helper slipping the sleeve.

There is a website www.leerburg.com that sells abunch of training dvds that are all geared toward this type of training.

I agree that the local police dept. might also be able to direct you to a local trainer.

Good luck and have fun with your dog.

your local K9 police and security personal would be the best to seek info on Shutz.

Another place that you may lke to check for a good trainer is through your local GSD club of america or kennel club of america if you are in the USA

I agree with dragongsd. This seems like the most reasonable way.

Good Luck,
