Hi there my name is Angie and I am from Calgary Canada And I am a very First time owner of a beautiful 13 month old German Shepherd Her name is Akima and she is the light of my life.Sweet little girl she is mainly black with the Tan on her legs.I don't know if anyone out there can answer my question though. As Mentioned Akima is 13 months but her ears do not stand She has one that is almost completely up and the other just flops.I have tried mole skin which was suggested from my friend I bought Akima form but it just fell off.So I then approached the vet and they said do nothing because her ears might stand in an undesirable position. And I would really like for the ears to stand but I know as she gets older it may not happen. So if anyone has any ideas I am willing to try about anything.Thank you for your time.

Bigmare, I am a breeder of Great Danes and learned that the cartilage starts to harden around the age of 11-12 weeks. The vet will not even crop the ear past that age. so I assume the same is true for Shepards. Your girl is probably too old to do anything about the ear as the cartilage is probably already as hard as it is going to get. I am sure you lover her just as she is and enjoy!

i have had a fair few GSD's and one of my females once didnt have both her ears up untill she was nearly 16 months old... its rare not to ever have them up fully in adulthood but not unseen. if they dont stand up right ever then just take it as it being apart of her own character, and its not gonna effect her in the long run..dont worry about it atall unless you want to breed her, but if i was you i wouldnt worry 1 bit, wont hurt her, its her character.. :)
