Great Pyrennes, adoptee. Needs help.

Two weeks ago, I adopted a male dog, dingy, beige - not white - that otherwise looks just like a great Pyrennes. Is there anyway to tell if he is a mixed breed or a pure bred dog?

It doesn't really matter. I like him a whole lot. But I wonder what he'll look like in say a year or so. He is cream-colored all over. He's been outside, tied to a stake all of his life - a year and a half or so. Do you think he could be white? The undercoat is whiter than the outer coat. Is that typical of colored Pyrennes? Or does it mean he is a mixed breed.?

I'm just trying to figure out what he is.

I'd have to see a pic to make any sort of guess. Has he been to a groomer since he got off that stake? He might just be dirty. Undercoat is usually lighter than guard coat. I know they are allowed biscuit patches, but I think they are supposed to be predominately white. Maybe not...

the are always and only ment to be white, all I never seen are white/white and what was it white!

sucks they wont allow them to be muilt colored, in that breed and others

But, my opinion is that they are only supposed to be white (I think) I wish they had them in other colors... how do you suppose spots would look? :p

Pyrennes are great. They make good family dogs, I think. Or maybe I got mixed up...

I just finished grooming one last weekend and I realized that they do have a bit of a creme color to them. It takes a lot to keep a pure white dog pure white.

Pyrenees often have spots.

About half the dogs that come in through Pyr rescue here have patches. I think all of our boarding Pyrs do too.
