Who Else Has a Skunk Story to Share?

So I am sure I am not the first person to have experienced a dog vs. skunk fiasco.

My doxie found a nest of skunks behind our house last summer and took great pleasure in barking at these unwanted intruders. Well of course, the skunks fought back in the only way they know how. SPRAYING! My Rosie comes running into the house yelping and smelling god-awful, and I am chasing her down trying to stop her before she rubs that horrible smell all over my house. I finally get her into the bath and lots of bubbles and scrubbing later the smell finally started to dissipate. I swear she still had a lingering smell for a few days, but I think at least she learned her lesson!

Anyone else have a skunk story they want to share?

Haha! Good post. I actually have had experience with a skunk vs. dog battle. My old boston, Shorty, and I were visiting a friend in their country house a few years back. Shorty loved running around the acreage, playing fetch, barking at horses, etc. But he finally met an animal he wasn't a match for; Mr. White Stripe. Me and the friends family were eating an early dinner out on the porch when Shorty comes running up, looking terrified and making this weird (even for a boston) snorting sound. The smell followed right behind him. Needless to say, it ruined the taste of my friends paella.

We had heard that the best way to get out the smell of skunk spray is with a tomato juice bath. That turned out to be a disaster as Shorty struggled around in the tub, spraying tomato juice all over my clothes. When we finally got him cleaned up, he just smelled like a mixture of skunk and marinara pasta.
