You might want to reduce your search to the type of hunting you plan on doing.

i agree with horse_money. research the different types of dogs and whatever breed is best suited for both your lifestyle and your interests, do some research and talk to some breeders.

We've got hunting dogs available, if you're still looking for one. It really depends on what type of hunting you're wanting to do. I wouldn't get an english pointer if I was a duck hunter; nor a brittany if i were a lion hunter.

yeah you need to look into the breeds and what kind of hunting you are planning to do ...... also you might want to also consider how much money you are planning to spend on the dog

If you have decided on what breed, you could find your local chapter of that dog club. They would be the best ones to direct you to a good breeder. We have been involved in both German Shorthaired Pointers and English Pointers over the last 30 years. There are other great hunting dog breeds, with good dispositions and they are pleasers.

Silver LABRADORS
There is no genetic basis for the silver gene in Labradors. The silver color is a disqualification under the Standard for the breed. The LRC does not recognize, accept or condone the sale or advertising of any Labrador as a silver Labrador. The Club opposes the practice of registering silver as chocolate.

Try lookin gat a hunting dog resucue. If there isn't one in your area then try going to a breeder. We have a Chocolate Lab that is pregnant now and have friends that have an English Pointer thats pregnant as well. You need to decide on what kind of hunting you want to do first.

I see a lot of posts saying you need to decide what type of hunting you're wanting to do before picking a breed, but you also have to consider if you are ready for the high energy of the sporting breeds. Even trained hunting dogs have a habit of getting into trouble. Which brings up looking into the cost of bringing your puppy to professional hunting dog classes and the tools you will need to buy for it.
