new adoptee

i just adopted a chesapeak retriever today, i fell inlove with him imediately,one problem,he's afraid of steps,our house is only asesable by two sets of stairs,front door,and cellar door,any suggestions,we tried everything:confused:

Try getting a ramp.
Maybe he will go up a ramp and in time you can move the ramp a little more until he sees the steps and gets more comfortable with them.
This may take a while, but you dont want to push him to do something he doesnt want to do.

thank you for your reply,but he is a very smart dog ,he came home saturday and has already mastered the steps,no treat coaxing or anything,just alot of praising and love and he did it, again thankyou,[tuesday july7,08
