Ok guys, I come to you for guidance! I need some help / ideas in regards to my Rottie Zena. I have 2 Rotties, Tiki (6 in July) and Zena (17 months) believe it or not she's bigger than him HA :D. Well to my delima....Zena is a great dog, I've finally gotten her house broken with the exception of her chewing on select items...i.e. my carpet which now has a hole in it. When I'm home she doesn't chew it's just when I leave so I put an open face muzzle on her while I'm gone (which i don't like doing) anyway...that's not why I'm here. My most challenging struggle with Zena is walking her. I have tried several different methods (choke chain (which I'll NEVER do again) short leash on neck collar, harness with retractable lease) and nothing appears to be working correctly. She will pull me and I will stop and make her stop with me, but sure enough 10 steps later she's pulling again. Now I'm almost 6 ft tall myself so I consider myself to be a pretty sturdy lady and I'm not worried about her taking off from me. But it would be nice to be able to walk with her without fighting. I have also tried walking both of them together...that definetly doesn't work. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried a short leash with a halti head collar? It gives you more control of the dogs head.
And when you used the choke chain where did you have it placed? To control the dogs head you have to have the choke chain all the way up behind the dogs ears...or it does nothing.

No I haven't tried the short leash with the halti head collar. It's an idea I'm willing to try though. When I did the choke chain it was not all the way down on her neck but not right up by her ears either. She's so rough, I didn't want her to hurt herself, so I kind of abandoned that idea. I think sometimes I'm also scared of my own stregnth with her. Because she's a good 100 lbs and it does take a bit of leverage to control her. I think I will try the head collar and short leash. Thank you :D

I have heard really good things about the halti when it comes to strong pulling dogs. It will be interesting to see how it works in this case! Good luck!

& BTW, training rottie is not a very difficult job.
It will be more simple if you give him treats after his success.
