Hi everyone ,
Hope someone can help me. I have a 3 yr. old female Chihuahua. We have had a lot of rain here recently. She is very scared of rain. just the sound terrifies her . I am trying to give some reason why she may be crying. All of a sudden she cries out like she is hurting . You don't even have to touch her . She cries if she knows you are about to touch her. Not always, though. This has been going on for the past 2 days. sometimes she runs and acts very normal. I have checked her out everywhere. Can't find anything . So I am thinking she is worn out from being stressed. Is she letting me know . "leave me alone". She eats runs very fast and drinks. I am very puzzled . Please help, She is very small about 41/2 lbs. She sometimes is crying out ,while lying or sleeping.
Thanks in advance for any info.I mean any will be very appreciated

You are very judgemental and stupid for saying that out loud. You know nothing about feelings. You know nothing about animals I can tell. Probably you are lonely and angry and have a dog that you beat upon or kick around . You are a disgrace to this forum. I asked for help. Not some smart _ _ _ remark from you . You imbecile , get real

i'm sorry to hear that your dogs is so afraid of rain...some dogs get nervous and anxious in thunderstorms or during fireworks. my neighbor's dog is especially scared of thunder and fireworks so he gives her light tranquilizers to calm her down. he's a vet so i know he wouldnt do anything unethical and tranqs seem to be safe for dogs. i used them on my dog when i flew him across country. maybe you could talk to your vet about giving your dog tranquilizers for bad storms? of course she cant take them for days straight but for seriously heavy rain maybe this will help her calm down.

Thank you vm . She is doing LOT BETTER. I think she hurt her leg , cause she was licking it a lot , I know she is spoiled. But this time it was different. she may have been over acting it a little . Maybe I should send her to Hollywood. She has a lot of personality. LOL Thanks again

I agree that the dog should be seen by a vet if for nothing more than to rule out any physical problems. You don't want her in pain. He agrees tranqs are definate preferable to constant stress and possibly hurting herself, however they muct be used VERY carefully with such a tiny girl. You may want to provide her with a heating pad in her crate that will make her feel safe and warm any time she is stressed. Just make sure she doesn't chew on it.
And to the person that wrote the nasty reply. GROW UP! you are obviously a very insensitive person. ALL DOGS ARE FOR LOVING! Just because they are not your favorite, they have as much (if not more) right to be on this earth as you do.

Thanks so much for the advice. I will try that about the warming blanket.
I did talk to the vet and he said to give her benadryl before trying the tranquilizers.
Also thanks for your great reply to "allinthehands".
He needs to be aggravated by us .
Check out my video on http://youtube.com/gerickwoods. She's singing on there, let me know what you think.
thanks again Gerick

Just wanted to interject something quickly... it has probably been covered here many times before, but ALWAYS check with your vet before giving your dog or any pet human medicines! Different animals have different livers, and drug metabolism is all about the liver.
I know you checked with the vet and he/she said to use benadryl before trying the pain killers... but it sort of gave the impression that you can just go and give your dog what you would take yourself.
Cats are really different than we are, so their reactions are more extreme than dogs... but dogs are also often poisoned by human medications.
