I am getting worried. I own a campground and for some reason dogs seem to show up here all the time. There is this beagle mix that came here on Memorial Day weekend and I kenneled him here, hoping to find his owner. I placed several ads but no one called. The last ad said "free to a good home". No one called. I can't keep this dog, the shelter will kill him within three days! omg he is so nice, about 5-7, beagle markings but with a curly tail like an Akita.
Anyone need a nice dog within the next few days? I see this dog on the farm or in a country home. Beagles are always so sweet.:( I just can't keep him here, I have two cats and a dog myself and run this campground, I don't have time or money for another pet. I live in Indiana, in the county neighboring Fort Wayne Indiana.
I'll check back in the next 36 hours, if I don't find a home he has to go to the shelter.:(

Oh my gosh. Don't give him to the shelther! Either keep him or give him to a great home. Talk to all of your friends and everyone you know please. This is a life on the line. Put out more ads and ads in the local newspaper, signs at pet stores, ads on poles, etc. Please just find this little dude a home. Talk to all of your family. All of your friends. Everyone you know. Co-workers. Please just find him a home and keep us updated!
I can't take him, of course, but I wish I could... are you sure you couldn't keep him? Maybe he could be trained to do good with kids and can be with you at the campground. It's a life we're talking about.......

I have talked to everyone. I own a campground and tried to give the dog away here. Everyone has their own dogs.
I can't keep him here on the campground.
I have to be realistic. If I lived on a farm or had a house off the campground that the yard was fenced in I'd keep him. I know its a life, ...thats why I am so upset. Darn these people who don't take care of their pets!

he is already good with kids but on the campground all dogs must be on leashes, its a state law. Besides we couldn't have dogs running all over the place. Whoever owned this dog put me in this position, not me. I am responsible with my pets and work hard to find homes for animals that get dumped here. The county made up new rules that they must be put down within three days so I am freaking out over this. grrrrrrrrrr

I know it's not your fault. But a life shouldn't be wasted like this. Try going on vacation or something for a weekend with your family and post flyers around there. Also, you can park your car in front of Walmart or a busy store and put a cardboard sign that says "FREE DOG!" and people iwll come by, maybe you'll find a good owner. =)
Good luck! And please keep updated...

well tomorrow is the last day that we'll have this dog. He rarely barked at first out there in the kennel but now he is barking a lot whenever he see's anyone. People started coming in this week early and he is begining to get on their nerves. My husband says we need to get him off the campground and I know he is right. I'm so fuming mad right now. You'd think that out of all the shelters I left messages at or emailed that someone would contact me.
Irresponsible dog owners piss me off!

I am so sorry.... what happened? How did things work out?
I hope you did not give him to the shelters. Good dogs shouldnt be put down. Horrible owners who did this.... they will pay.

Of all the links I was provided not one would call me back and only one emailed me back to tell me they were full. I'm sick, my husband just left to take this dog to the pound/shelter.

I'm so freaking pissed off at whoever dumped this dog. I'm pissed off that people get pets and don't care for them properly, pissed off that I was put into this position. I just want to scream at someone right now

My husband got back and he told me he stayed and talked to them at the shelter for a while. They had cut out our ads we placed in the newspaper and put them on the board. They checked for microchip but there was none....just as I suspected would be the case. The warden there said that all the no kill shelters are full and thats probably why they never bothered calling me back. We've heard that many people, especially older people are giving up their pets because of the rising food cost. Its just crazy to me. We own a campground and just cannot keep an outside dog here. Gawd I'm so sad and mad at the same time. They told my husband that they'd try to find the lil guy a home, but, well, you know, whats the chance of that happening?

Don't feel bad about this KatKat68, you did all you could to try a find this little guy a new home. The sad fact is, that there is too many unwanted dogs in the shelters, too many back yard breeders, & too many puppy mills in this world. We have exactly the same problem here in Australia, hundreds of unwanted dogs are getting dumped or surrendered to shelters every week, & the majority of them don't make it out alive. There is just too many dogs & not enough homes for them. It really pisses me off too, especially when irresponsible owners don't get their pets neutured/spayed & then breed unwanted litters of puppies.
Obviously this little guy might have had a barking problem & rather than try & fix the problem, with training & behaviourists, they took the easy way out & dumped the poor boy.
Grrr ,this really makes me angry, some people really shouldn't be allowed to own pets!

This user wants the dog that is exactly this description... and of course India has dogs. ashishbarad: I don't think it's impossible unless you get in contact with katkat68 and come to America (to the place where katkat68 tells you) or something. Possibly in PM. x)
That is, if the dog is still alive.... (oh, that sounds horrible when I typed that.)

Meg It would cost ashisbarad alot of money to import a dog from America to India. There is the airfares & then the dog would probably have to go into quarantine for quite some time, which would also cost alot of money. Not to mention alot of other exspenses.

I think it would be easier if this person looks for a similar dog a little closer to home.

I know it will cost a lot of money... but hey, it's their money. Their choice.

Meg do you really think that is practical advice to be giving them?

Ashisbarad I'm sure you will find a lovely dog there in India. I'm sure you could adopt one from a shelter over there, & save a dog in your own country.

You could have came to Ohio. There are no kill shelters here. Our SPCA keeps dogs a lot longer. You see a lot of Beagles there. Beagles are known to run off. They follow their nose. I am sorry that happend to you. Stupid irresponsible people piss me off too.
