Hey, I have wanted a Rottweiler for a long time and now that I am moving to a new town where I don't know anyone I thought it might be a good idea to have a companion! I know they can be aggressive but I also know that with proper training they can be laid back animals. I have just started my research before I decide whether or not I am going to get one so does anyone know how much a Rottweiler might cost and what "proper training" would look like. I would any appriciate input!! :)

For breeders, we hope you can find some good ones to get in touch with using our directory of breeders. That section is here: http://www.breederretriever.com/dir/breed-77/broad/rottweiler/

But first, try reading a little bit here http://www.breederretriever.com/dog-breeds/77/rottweiler.php and learning some more about the breed, and maybe some others. Also, it's a good idea to hang out here in the forums a bit where some of the breeders post themselves and are able to share really personal and enlightening information.

Unfortunately I don't personally have much experience with Rottweilers, but hopefully someone who knows more can reply and help you out.

My main advice: remember what a important (and long term) commitment a dog is, and make sure that you research the breed (and breeders) before bringing a Rottweiler into your home. It might turn out the breed is just incompatible--but you also might find it's perfect. It's just important to research carefully.

Good luck!

We lost our rot a couple of years ago (old age). Wonderful dog!
We now have an anatolian shepherd.
Big difference!
Rot: when a family member (read grandson and wife) was threatened. the rot wanted to know what the problem was, who was causing it, because she was going to elimanate the problem.
The "tony" will put himself between the family member and the perceived threat to determine what other actions are needed.
