View Full Version : Any Ideas on The Breed?

She is a mixed breed dog, about five years old. So far it has been suggested either English mastiff cross or Rhodesian Ridgeback cross. But no consensus and no one really knows...Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
She's having alot of digestive problems, the vet has come up completely blank after the latest $400 worth of bloodwork and parasite screening. These problems have been with her since she was a puppy. She was dewormed and is up to date on all of her vaccinations. I have Nzymes BACPAC on order, and am hoping this might help her problems.
At this point I'm wondering if it might be something breed-related. I'd be happy to get more pictures if necessary! Please ask! :)
Thanks in advance!

my only guess would be a lab/visla cross. As for the stomach some foods I would try would be Nutro Natural Choices and Nature's Recipe (which from feedback is really good for sensitive tummies and allergies). I try to stay away from anything with corn, wheat and by-products.

Thanks, I will try and find those foods here (small town in BC) If I can't I will try for something without corn, wheat or byproducts. I'll post what I find and hopefully it will be something 'healthy for sensitive tummies and allergies, I had tried her on a duck based food, but gave up after three months.... maybe I need to give her longer than that? I don't know.

Just a quick update, couldn't find the two foods reccomended, so sleuthed it out and settled on EaglePack Holistic Lamb and Rice formula. I mixed it with her present food, (will give her mixed for a few days and then go to the new food only)and she really likes the new stuff! :) I'll let you know how it goes... here's the link for what I bought if you want to check it out, sounded good and no corn, wheat or byproducts http://www.eaglepack.com/Pages/HS_Lamb.html

Will do! :)
She looks like quite a mixture. Her red nose and body shape remind me of a Visla. The way her head widens after her nose reminds me of another breed but I just can't think of it. How tall is she at the shoulders?
If she has a sensitive stomach and has been dewormed.........try different foods. Lamb and Rice is for a more sensitive stomach. Monitor her portions......maybe she pigs out as she may have had to do that in the past.........try 6 small portions each day and then wean her down to 5, 4, etc after a week or more on each stage.
She looks friendly and energetic and ready for play.
