Hello all. I have owned many dogs in my lifetime but having just graduated from college this is the first time that I have a dog all of my own. His name is Dylan, and he is an American Pit Bull Terrier mix -- he seems to be mixed with Carolina Dog. Dylan is about 18 months old and I got him as a rescue when he came through the animal control where I volunteered. I also have a 2 1/2 year old cat named Darrell and the two of them are best buds.
Anyway, I would really like to get a second dog sometime in the next year to year and a half. While I would like to get another APBT, a female for sure, I am starting to think that having two bullies in one home may be more than I can do right now. So, I've started thinking about some other breeds. I really like lean, muscular builds and would like a dog that would weight somewhere between 60 and 100 pounds. I would also prefer that the breed not be prone to dog aggression just to make it easier since I already have one APBT, though he has not demonstrated any dog aggression. Better safe than sorry, right?
So, in my search I have realized that I am really drawn to the Doberman Pinscher. Does anyone on here own one? Could you give me some more insight into their temperaments with other dogs? I've done some research but haven't found anything on this.
