A big hello to everyone here!:) I'm from Green Bay, Wisconsin, home of my beloved Packers. I have had many dogs throughout my life. My yorkie died over a year ago,and I didn't think I wanted another dog, but this morning my husband presented me with a beautiful 8 week old bi-black sheltie for my Valentine's gift. That man knows what I like!!!;) She is so energetic and so cute! I named her Fiona, after the heroine in Brigadoon. I thought it was a fitting name for a dog who roots go back to that area. I can't wait to get some pictures posted of her, and my family. I have been married 34 years and have 1 son, 2 daughters, and their spouses, and 2 grand-daughters and 1 grandson. I am a cake decorator for a bakery I've worked at for 25 years. Hope to talk to other dog lovers, because they are some of the nicest people a person will ever meet! This is my first sheltie, so hopefully I can get tips about the wonderful little dog. Happy to be aboard!
I'm Geri, from the frozen tundra! We are in the middle of a snow storm right now, up to a foot of the wonderful white stuff predicted!!!

Welcome to the forum.
What a wonderful gift, the sheltie is a wonderful breed. I have a two year old tri male. He is a 25 pound lap dog and follows me everywhere. He is incredibly entergetic though and can get somewhat obnoxious if not exercised. :)
I can't wait to see pictures.

Oh, wow! You are so lucky to be getting a puppy for Valentines! I hope you have a wonderful time with your girlie. If you're looking for dog lovers, you've come to the exactly right place! I'm probly the most dog - obsessed person ever, no joke. Welcome to the site, and I can't wait until you show us some pup pictures! I know nothing of Shelties, but I'm going to research them out of pure interest (not to mention boredness).
Welcome! Please stay a while!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! And I need warmth, because this moning the wind chill is 35 below 0! Now, if I can just figure out how to post a pic of my puppy, I'll be getting off to a good start. Fiona is feisty one minute, then the next she's a lovebug, wanting to curl up in my lap. I have been working with her on heel, come, sit, etc., and she always looks so intense when she is trying to follow my directions, her eyes never leave my face. I never had such a seemingly intelligent dog, except for a lab retriever my husband and I had when we were first married. Fiona seems to have a longer attention span at her age that is different from some of the other dogs I have had, She would be crate trained by now, if it weren't for the fact that it is so cold, snowy and windy, that she can't stay outside long enough to finsih her business. But while in the house, she always whines while in her crate when she has to go out. I am looking forward to this little black and white ball of energy to mature enough to show me what she's made of! I also want to thank JoAnn, who owns Fiona's parents. What a wonderful person she has been! She really cares about her puppies, and goes to great lengths to match the right puppy with an owner whose traits are compatible.
