The American Sporting Dog Alliance needs YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sporting dog owners and professionals are facing unprecedented threats in the coming year, and the only way to preserve our heritage is to unify into a single voice that speaks loudly and clearly in defense of our rights.

The American Sporting Dog Alliance (ASDA) was formed to meet these threats head-on, both politically and in the courts, and we will win this fight.

We consistently underestimate our own potential strength. We see ourselves as a weak minority, mostly because the sporting dog world is fragmented into small groups representing different breeds or activities. This literally is a case of not being able to see the forest for the trees.

There are millions of Americans who own dogs of the sporting breeds, and the majority of them use their dogs for hunting or competition. The total number of people who own or work with pointing dogs, beagles, retrievers, hounds, hunting terriers and flushing dogs greatly exceeds the number of people who support animal rights and anti-hunting legislation.

In the 1970’s, the term ‘silent majority’ was coined in American political debate. That’s us. We are in the clear majority, but we have failed to stand up for our beliefs and rights. We have allowed ourselves to be pushed to the wall by a very vocal minority of animal rights and anti-hunting extremists who do not speak for most Americans.

To combat these extremists, we must unify, stand up and be counted.

In many ways, sporting dog owners and professionals have been their own worst enemy. Some of us feel that our cause is hopeless. Many of us think we represent a dying tradition, even though we still number in the millions. Others try to bury their heads in the sand and hope that new laws and policies will somehow pass them by. Still others want to believe that there is an inherent sense of fairness and decency in the political process that will make things right, even as our rights are continually compromised.

The simple truth is that our heritage will perish if we do not defend it aggressively. It’s up to us. Nobody is going to do it for us. We must banish despair and defeatism from our thinking, realize our real power and flex our muscles, and we must do it now. Tomorrow will be too late.

ASDA asks all people who are involved with sporting dogs to read our website and learn about how we plan to combat the threats of animal rights and anti-hunting extremism. The group’s website can be viewed at http://www.americansportingdogalliance.org .

We need your membership and support. Everyone who joins gives us more political clout and more funds to fight back against the extremists. The ‘anti’ groups have been organizing and raising money for years, and now have a major advantage in terms of organization and finances. Even though we are in the majority, we have a lot of catching up to do. But we can catch up. We can stop the ‘antis’ in their tracks. We really don’t have a choice in the modern political climate. We either fight back and win, or we are lost forever.

ASDA is a “no-compromise” organization that plans to win this fight by a knockout.

If we lose, we have no one to blame but ourselves. We have the numbers. We have the votes. We have the power to win.

There are only two questions. Do we have the will to win? Do we have the guts?

I'm not sure of the meaning of your post.

But, to me, the animal rights and anti-hunting fanatics are very much in the Nazi mold.

They believe we should live for society, according to their definitions, and they want to destroy us if we see things differently.

Viva freedom!

Ha, you're a joke. yes there are millions of people who own sporting dogs, and most of them don't know how to even control their dog enough to bother walking it let alone take it hunting. they get a sporting dog for the heck of having Ol' Yeller or Air Bud. And as far as I'm concerned you sound worse than the people from PITA. Its morons like you that don't care if animals are wiped out, whether or not they benefit the ecosystem. Yes animals should be protected, however, people should also be able to hunt within limitations. (in my personal opinion if your not willing to eat it and use every part of the animal, you shouldn't be hunting)

I don't understand what you are saying in your post, or how it applies to my initial posting. I have never shot an animal that I haven't eaten. I am a professional bird dog trainer who tries hard to help people to learn how to handle their dogs. I strongly believe in conservation and protecting all species of wildlife, and also believe that no one has done more to help wildlife than hunters.
