Hi I have a 9 month chessie named Theah . I've been feeding her twice a day up until just recently. I went to once a day after I picked her up and weighed her, wow 75.5 lbs . She is so stout and looks so good I'm wondering if this is O.K any help would be great. THANKS

It depends on the type of average weight for that certain dog. If the dog is supposed to be, like, 7 lbs? Then that is a definitely over weight dog! But if it's supposed to be, like, 70 then that's perfect. My mom feeds our dogs cookies in the morning, one a piece, and thats all until about 6 and they have dinner. <-- This is the way to go. One cookie in the morning when she wakes up. One cookie when you are eating lunch [noon]. One meal when you are about to eat dinner. It depends.. your dog may just be chubby because of lack of excersice. But if she looks good then you are doing right with her, just if you feed her twice with BIG meals thats not good but with small meals then perfect. :] hope that helped!

PS: Do you mean the Chesapeake Bay Retriever ? If so I looked up them and it says their average weight is 55 - 70 lbs. That means you are doing okay, but you need to stick with one feeding per day and the cookie in the morning like I said earlier.

talk to a breeder about what your dogs feeding schedule should be. Breeds like yours are prone to GVD (bloat) which can be fatal if not treated. you may also talk to your veterinarian.
