Any one know anything about mini pins?

My hubby and I are going to look at a couple of minipins tomorrow. I heard they are real barkers. Were looking at a 10wk old puppy and an adult. There littlebox trained and housebroken.

Ive been looking on different dog sites about them. Are they hard to train? every site i've been to has been different. Are they barkers? Are they aggressive? I'd rather talk to people that know the breed then the web sites. Thanks guys.

A well socialized dog should not be agressive. as for barking, some will, some will not. however as far as i know the breed does have a tendency to bark.

As with all dog breeds, it depends on how the dog is raised and trained.


I have known a vast number of Min Pins with completely different personalities in training classes. Some are perfectly trained, sweet tempered, a little stubborn-but listen. On the other hand I have met some that are barkers, scared of their own shadows, and aggressive.

Socialization is the key.

I recently had to put mine to sleep
Zippy was a barker, but was a very good watch dog for inside
He had a really human like personality, I remember whenever he did something wrong I`d send him to the bedroom and right before he`d get there he would look back at me with and make a noise at me like he was talking back at me.
Maybe 5 minutes later he`d always come to me and sit at my feet looking at me with his sad eyes as saying he was sorry
As long as you socialize them with others they are fine
