Hello!
I have a Silky Terrier that turned 1 last month. His coat doesn't seem to be growing as pretty as I hoped. Instead of long, smooth and shiny it seems short, broken looking and frizzy. He is kept very clean and well groomed. When I bath him I use shampoo and conditioner. I also tried a leave-in conditioner spray, but that seemed to make him itch, so I stopped. I try to be careful with what I use on him because I don't want to irritate his skin. When I brush him I use a slicker brush or a pin cushion brush. Please give me some suggestions for a better coat. Thanks!

great fur happens from the inside out, so a good diet is essential to their coats. also people shampoo is not good for dogs, it strips too much of their natural oils. try an oatmeal shampoo for dogs.

Hi Charm38!
I was feeding him Science Diet original, but I switched to feeding him Science Diet lamb meal and rice recipe. The lamb meal and rice recipe is said to have fatty acids needed to promote a better coat. Hopefully I will see some better results!
