I have a 2 year old lab named Anthony, I just bought a new Lab I named Sophiafrom a breeder. My husband found ticks on her and now does not want me to keep her because we have twins that are crawling. I don't have the heart to just give her to anybody. People are telling me to sell her, but I need to know she will be going to a good home with people that will love her and care for her. I need some advise on what to do to ensure she will be in a good home.

why does your husband want you to get rid of the new dog and not the other one ticks are easily rid of with the right treatment

I second blueboys. Ticks are treatable and they can get them anywhere (i.e. not just from the breeder's property). They aren't a disease or disorder. As long as your pup is healthy otherwise, I wouldn't worry. You may want her vet checked and tested for Lyme though. Around here, ticks are a common occurence and I'm not surprised when I pull one or two off my dogs a year.

Also, if it really comes down to not keeping the puppy (which would be a shame since this is a very minor issue), I'd check with her breeder as he/she may have stipulated that the puppy come back to them under such circumstances.

Thank you both for your input. Weve never had to deal with ticks and I think he just got overexcited due to us having the babies around. I think hes getting used to having her aound shes a good dog.

aww i hope you both decide to keep her your little ones will be fine you can deal with ticks so easily these days vets will rmove them or you can but a tick remover yourself and if your worried about your little ones being around the new pup you can always close of an area where the pup cant get to but allows your little ones to crawl:)

Ticks are soo common! The kids could get them playing in the yard!! I know mine did. My husband paniced at the time and blamed my horses but we checked the horses and found not a one. None of the rest of the animals had them either. A week later our friend found a tick on his Chesapeake who had been visiting our farm at the time we found the ticks on our children. He was treated twice for ticks and has not had them since!! Hope you and your husband don't get rid of your new dog because of something that is treatable!!
