Owner of newly adopted 7yr old Cocker Spaneil [Archive]

Hello everyone. I am an owner of a newly adopted Cocker Spaniel that seemed to be destined for our family. We had a buff colored Cocker Spaniel for 16 yrs before we had to put her to sleep. In the last three years we took a break form having a dog. Recently my wife and I began to contemplate getting another dog. We went to a dog shelter on two different occaisons to "just look" and it was closed. Lo and behold, I am raking leaves on my front lawn when one of my neighbors and his wife approached me with this beautiful buff cocker spaniel. The asked me if we would be interested in taking him. His owner moved and couldn't take him ( how anyone could give up a dog as nice as this after 7 yrs is beyond me). They also saw that I had a Cocker Spaniel Lawn Ornament displayed on my lawn. So we took the dog on a trial basis for a week, had him checked by the Vet and he never left. His name is Sammy which is the same name my wife's old family dog was. So I think it was just destiny that we get this dog.
