General Description of the Polish Lowland Sheepdog
Also known as the Polski Owczarek Nizinny (PON), The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a medium sized dog with a rectangular frame. The dog is strong and muscular with long, straight and powerfully built legs. The coat is thick and dense, with long, shaggy straight or wavy hair that hangs over the medium sized oval eyes. The large nose is black or sometimes brown and peeks through the dog’s thick facial hair. The heart shaped ears are set moderately high on top of the medium sized head, which is in perfect proportion to the body. The muscular shoulders, along with the heavy bones of the hindquarter and strong feet are responsible for the dog’s notable saunter. The Polish Lowland Sheepdog can be any color.

Polish Lowland Sheepdog Temperament
The Polish Lowland Sheepdog has an amicable temperament and is very sociable with its family. The dog is good natured and gentle with children, dogs and other pets, but can become reserved and protective around strangers or aggressive dogs. The dog is a loyal companion and adaptable to most lifestyles, provided it is exercised regularly. The PON is intelligent and loves to work, but its long history of working apart from its master has given it a mind of its own and a tendency to trust its instincts above all else. Some Polish Lowland Sheepdogs may try to herd children or nip at their heels.
